No, you are not obligated to bring your own firearm to the class. At the range, you have the option to rent pistols for a fee of $5, in addition to the cost of ammunition. Although it is not mandatory, we strongly recommend qualifying with the handgun you plan to carry for practicality.

No, the type of handgun you bring for qualification does not matter. Since September 1, 2013, restrictions on qualifying with a revolver have been eliminated. You can now qualify with either a revolver or a semi-automatic handgun, and you are free to carry either type of handgun, regardless of the one you used for qualification. It's important to note that the use of optical enhancers like lasers or red dot sights is not allowed.

The shooting qualification is actually not difficult at all. The legislation and its design do not intend to create barriers that prevent ordinary, safety-conscious, and responsible citizens from successfully meeting the requirements. Shooting the qualification can be an enjoyable experience, with safety being of utmost importance.
